Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark Completes Phase Two Of Construction

TANNERSVILLE, PA. – July 24, 2015 – Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, opened Phase I on May 1, 2015 and has welcomed tens of thousands of guests to the biggest indoor waterpark in the Northeast, announces the completion of Phase II: an additional 216 guest suites, Serenity Spa & Fitness Center, and Trails End Pub and Grille. The 453-room indoor waterpark resort, nestled in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, is now complete. Camelback Resort now offers more adventure, activity and amenities in one mountain destination than anywhere else in the country.

For more than 20 years, long-time friends and Camelback Resort co-owners, Arthur Berry III and Ken Ellis, who is also the President and CEO of Aquatic Development Group, the lead designer and builder of Aquatopia, envisioned developing an indoor waterpark resort of their own. After years of research and planning, they purchased Camelback Resort in 2005 with the plan to one day transform the seasonal ski and outdoor waterpark attraction into a year-round, overnight destination. In the 10 years that ensued, they expanded the operations of the ski resort to offer world-recognized terrain-based learning programs, winning the coveted Conversion Cup in 2014 from the National Ski Area’s Association, expanded the attractions at Camelbeach Waterpark, the largest outdoor waterpark in Pennsylvania, opened Camelback Mountain Adventures, offering zip-lines, multiple tree-tops courses and steel Mountain Coaster, and now, after 18 months of construction, completed Phase II of Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark.

“Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia is designed to be vastly different from your typical indoor waterpark resort,” said Berry. “Because of our mountain location, we appeal to a very broad demographic and generational mix. Since opening our doors in May, we’ve welcomed a lot of families, but also couples, groups, wedding parties, honeymooners, and outdoor enthusiasts. Our guests have embraced not only the amenities located inside the new Lodge, but the outdoor adventures as well. With the opening of Phase II, we are now able to accommodate even more guests by doubling the guest rooms, and deliver a superior guest experience through an array of services.”

The $163 million Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is the largest single expenditure in the 52-year history of Camelback Resort. With its close proximity to New York and Philadelphia, Camelback is nationally known in the ski industry for converting new skiers and snowboarders in the Northeast to lifetime snowsport’s enthusiasts and serves as an important feeder resort to larger Western ski areas. The completion of Camelback Lodge and the transformation to a year-round destination is a game changer not only for Camelback Resort, but quite possibly for the entire ski industry. For Camelback Resort owners Berry and Ellis, simply put, it’s a dream, spanning two decades, come true.

With Phase II complete, Camelback now offers 453 guest rooms and suites in 20 different configurations, designed to accommodate families, couples and large groups. Phase I included 237 guest suites while Phase II introduces the additional 216, including several new larger styles and loft suites that can accommodate up to 14 guests. Camelback Lodge’s mountain-modern architecture and design extends throughout all 453 guest rooms and suites.

At the helm is fictitious legendary explorer, Kartrite Van Der Berris, who has filled the Lodge from his worldly expeditions.
